Former CID Director SSP Shani Abeysekera yesterday filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court saying it was a violation of his human rights to demote him as the personal assistant to the Southern Province DIG.
He is seeking Court to cancel his demotion and reinstate him in his previous post, and is also requesting Court to order payment of Rs. 10 million as compensation.
The SSP had cited the Acting IGP, Chairman of the National Police Commission, the Attorney General, and 17 others as respondents.
