The Health Services Director General yesterday declared that wearing masks for indoor and outdoor activities are no longer mandatory as cases of COVID-19 declined.
He also said performing of PCR test/Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) should not be done as a screening test from 10 June.
The move comes as Sri Lanka appears to have put COVID-19 pandemic behind. As of yesterday, the total COVID-19 confirmed cases were 663,917 of which the active cases were 424. Yesterday only six new positive cases were reported. Recoveries to date were 646,975. Sri Lanka has to date recorded 16,518 deaths due to COVID-19.
