Business leader Dhammika Perera will be sworn-in as a Member of Parliament (MP) today after the Supreme
Court yesterday dismissed all five petitions challenging his appointment as a National list MP.
Perera was to take oath yesterday but it was delayed pending the SC ruling.
Several individuals and organisations including the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) had filed Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions challenging the appointment of Dhammika Perera as a National List by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Basil Rajapaksa.
The three-member Bench comprising Justices Priyantha Jayawardena, Yasantha Kodagoda and Arjuna Obeysekera dismissed the petitions.
