The rupee further strengthened against the US dollar yesterday, aided by improved sentiments and positive outlook for inflows.
The TT selling rate was quoted at Rs. 191.97 for a US dollar, as against Rs. 201.28 on Friday and a peak of Rs. 204.62 on Thursday last week.
The indicative $ spot exchange rate was Rs. 194.44 yesterday as against Rs. 199.93 on 16 April and Rs. 200 on 15 April.
According to the Central Bank, during the year up to 16 April, the rupee’s depreciation against the dollar was 6.8% as against 5.2% during the year up to 12 March and 4.2% up to 12 February.
