Rs. 2.8 b spent by ‘Yahapalana’ Govt. on vehicle purchases

The former Government spent Rs. 2.8 billion to purchase vehicles for the use of ministers between 2015 and 2019, Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando told Parliament yesterday.

He said a sum of Rs. 1.6 billion had been spent on vehicle purchases for ministers, Rs. 652 million to purchase vehicles for state ministers and a sum of Rs. 564 million vehicles for deputy ministers.

The Chief Whip disclosed the details in response to a question raised by JVP MP Nalinda Jayatissa.
