The Colombo High Court has decided to reject the revision bail application filed by Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) Former Director Arjun Aloysius and CEO Kasun Palisena, who are in remand custody over the bond scam charges.
Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Wijeyeratne dismissed the petition without proceeding when it was taken up in the court yesterday saying that the order given by the Colombo Fort Magistrate was legitimate. The petitioners in their appeal to the Colombo High Court stated that the Colombo Fort Magistrate had refused bail for them under the Public Property Act.
However, they noted, the police report submitted to the courts against them has not revealed any offence under the Public Property Act. Therefore, they argued, the decision taken by the Colombo Fort Magistrate to refuse bail was illegal.
