Workers’ remittances grew by 8.8% to $ 729 million in January compared to $ 670 million a year earlier.
The gain is welcome as remittances declined by 2% to $ 671 million in December 2017 and by 1.1% in 2017 to $ 7,164 million, reflecting the geopolitical uncertainties and the continuation of subdued economic performance in the major remittance generating destinations.
