Cabinet approval has been given for the Highways Ministry to seek Request for Proposals (RFPs) for the construction of an elevated expressway from the new Kelaniya Bridge via Rajagiriya to the Outer Circular Highway at Athurugiriya.
The Road Development Authority (RDA) has conducted a feasibility study to construct an elevated expressway from the new Kelani Bridge to the Athurugiriya interchange on the Outer Circular Highway via Rajagiriya along the Port Access Elevated Expressway that is current under construction utilising World Bank funds, a statement released by the Government Information Department on Cabinet decisions on Monday said.
“Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Highways Minister Johnston Fernando to take necessary steps to request for proposals (RFP) for the implementation of the project with 100% foreign funding under the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) scheme,” it added.
