The on-going power cuts have shorten trading at the Colombo stock market to two hours until further notice.
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) said in consultation with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) having considered a request made by stock broker firms, decided to restrict trading hours from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Thursday 31 March and today. Previously trading ended at 2.30 p.m.
The move is due to the difficulties faced by Investors and other stakeholders to access and operate the market as a result of the prevailing power cuts.
“This position will be reviewed over the weekend,” the CSE added.
