The Planters Association has called on MP Mahinda Rajapaksa and appraised him of the crisis faced by the industry owing to the trade union action.
“Mr. Rajapaksa understood our concerns and that it’s a difficult situation for the private companies to give a Rs.1000 wage hike,” Employers Federation of Ceylon (EFC) Plantation Services Group Chairman and former Planters Association of Ceylon Chief Roshan Rajadurai told journalists yesterday.
Rajapaksa requested the PA to submit a proposal.
The PA said it hasn’t met President Maithripala Sirisena and was invited by the latter for a discussion on the crisis.
