Over 100 patients identified from toy factory in Wattala

A total of 117 employees of a toy factory in Wattala have tested positive for COVID-19, with 803 employees subjected to PCR tests.

Initially, 49 patients tested positive for COVID-19 from the toy factory, which resulted in other employees being tested. A further 68 patients were identified following testing, and reports of more PCR tests are expected.

While health authorities have stressed that the majority of COVID-19 cases were identified from the Gampaha District and the Colombo Municipal Council area, of the 157 COVID-19 cases identified from the Gampaha District on Thursday, 57 were from Wattala.

According to the Army, 15 of Thursday’s cases were identified from Peliyagoda and 13 from Kelaniya.
