Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) D.D. Wickramaratne on Thursday instructed all Police stations in the country that permits are no longer necessary for kithul toddy tapping.

The Acting IGP has therefore instructed the Police stations not to take legal action against kithul toddy tappers hereafter.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Thursday during an election rally in Galle assured he would revive the Kitul industry which had deteriorated due to raids by the Excise Department.
