New strategies to revive exports, investments, tourism and aviation post-COVID-19 will come up for discussion today at a top-level meeting chaired by Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
This is following the Industrial Export, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga last week requesting the heads of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Board of Investment (BOI), Export Development Board (EDB), Airport and Aviation Services (Lanka) Ltd., and SriLankan Airlines to discuss within their organisations and draw up new plans.
“Today’s meeting with top officials of these organisations will review some of the strategies proposed and how fast those can be implemented,” Minister Ranatunga told the Daily FT.
Separate meetings will be held with officials of industrial export and investment promotion as well as tourism and aviation at the ministry premises at the World Trade Centre.
Minister Ranatunga sought for revival strategies of four key sectors last week. The key objective of the discussion is to re-activate these institutions with a short- and long-term strategies to understand the current situation and iron out the issues pertaining to tourism, investment promotion, export development and aviation sectors.
Following the discussions with the officials, Ranatunga plans to redirect same with the Government and implement the proposals promptly.
The Ministry also plans to implement separate and joint programs for the quick revival of the industries whilst Ranatunga commended the initiatives launched by the Government to help the industries and enterprises.
