Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed three new members to the Board of the Bank of Ceylon.
They are career civil servant and former Ministry Secretary Lalith Withana, Brandix Group Finance Director and Brandix India Managing Director Hasitha Premaratne and University of Colombo School of Computing Consultant Dr. Harsha Wijewardane.
The ex-officio member on the BOC Board is the Ministry of Finance Department of Fiscal Policy Director General K.A. Vimalenthirarajah, who is also an Attorney-at-Law.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also the Finance Minister earlier appointed top lawyer and public-private sector fame Kanchana Ratwatte as the Chairman of Bank of Ceylon. He is scheduled to assume duties today following the formal approval by the Central Bank.
Ratwatte is a Lawyer by profession and has an LL.B degree from the University of Colombo. He has appeared on behalf of numerous clients including corporate entities in both criminal and civil areas of the law.
Ratwatte also has extensive experience in the public and private sectors in the fields of commerce and administration.
He has held public sector positions as the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and the Ceylon Shipping Corporation among other organisations in his career.
He also has extensive experience being a member of the boards of several private sector enterprises in the fields of IT, security printing, software development, BPO, insurance broking and securities. He had his primary and secondary education at Trinity College Kandy.
