President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has summoned the new Parliament to meet on 20 August.
The President issued the Gazette notification to this effect on Monday night.
The President dissolved the Eighth Parliament of Sri Lanka on 2 March and fixed 14 May for the House to meet.
However, as the polls got delayed due to the outbreak of COVID-19, a new date was appointed by the President in keeping with the powers vested in him under Article 70 of the Constitution and the provisions of the Parliamentary Election Act.
