The National Sales Average (NSA) for tea in January had risen by Rs. 762.09 in January from a year ago bringing cheer to the plantation industry.
Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers said the NSA for January was recorded at Rs. 1,466.76 ($ 4.04) as against Rs. 704.67 ($ 3.51) in the same month of last year.
It said High Grown average of Rs. 1,395.03 ($ 3.84) has recorded an increase of Rs. 35.25 month on month vis-à-vis Rs. 1,359.78 ($ 3.74) of December 2022. When compared to January 2022 average of Rs. 680.56 ($ 3.39), another significant increase of Rs. 714.47 is recorded YOY.
Medium Grown average totalling Rs. 1,242.82 ($ 3.42) for January 2023 has recorded a marginal increase of Rs. 4.96 month on month vis-à-vis Rs. 1,237.86 ($ 3.40) of December 2022. When compared to January 2022 average of Rs. 626.73 ($ 3.13), shows an increase of Rs. 616.09 YOY.
Low Grown average of Rs. 1,544.39 ($ 4.25) of January 2023 has recorded a marginal increase of Rs. 10.12 month on month vis-à-vis Rs. 1,534.27 ($ 4.22) of December 2022. When compared to January 2022 average of Rs. 733.69 ($ 3.65), shows an increase of Rs. 810.70 YOY.
