Multilac, Macktiles Group respond to Finance Minister’s request

First in private sector to announce hike in employee’s salary by Rs. 5,000; sequel to Govt. move to offer monthly allowance of equal amount to public servants, pensioners and differently abled soldiers

Macksons Holdings, manufacturers of Multilac, Macktiles and a conglomerate of building materials, yesterday announced a minimum per head salary increment of Rs. 5,000 upwards for its entire workforce.

The move comes hours after the Government announced that the state sector workers would be given a Rs. 5,000 monthly allowance, and in keeping with the request made by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa for the private sector to consider a similar gesture.

Group CEO Shimmer Milfer said: “It is the responsibility of every employer to prioritise the needs and wellbeing of their employees during these difficult and uncertain times.”
