Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera instructed officials to issue urea fertiliser to farmers who cultivated maize during the Yala season as well.
The stock of urea fertiliser provided by the Government of India is due to reach Sri Lanka during the first week of this month.
It is planned to provide 50,000 tons of the 65,000 tons of fertiliser for paddy cultivation and 10,000 tons for maize cultivation.
The remaining 5,000 tons of urea will be provided for tea cultivation along with any excess fertiliser from paddy cultivation.
