Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Kandy yesterday to meet with religious leaders.
Rajapaksa met with the Anunayake Theras of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chapters, Muslim Moulavis and Hindu Priests to discuss the situation in the area.
Suggesting that leaders of all religions engage in discussion to make a collective effort to resolve the situation, Rajapaksa said that Sinhala and Muslim communities should exercise restraint and work together to avoid animosity building among each other.
