The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has given the green light to raise the price of a 12.5 kg domestic LP gas cylinder by Rs.245 to Rs.1,687 with effect from yesterday.
The LPG-importing companies in the country made several requests from the Government to increase the price of a 12.5 kg domestic LP gas cylinder by Rs. 275, considering the notable world market LPG price increase over the past few months. LPG prices were last revised in September 2017 by Rs. 110 for a 12.5 kg LP gas cylinder. According to the Finance Ministry, the price hike of last night is still lower than the prevalent LPG prices of 2015. It was pointed out that a 12.5 kg LP gas cylinder in 2015 was Rs. 1,896 and in 2014, it was Rs. 2,200.
