Ketagoda to resign today for Basil!

SLPP National List MP Jayantha Ketagoda is tipped to resign from his parliamentary seat today, Daily FT learns.

His seat is to be filled by the SLPP’s National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa. With the 20th Amendment to the Constitution now operational, Rajapaksa who is a dual citizen will have no obstacle to entering parliament.

Under the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, dual citizens were barred from being MPs.
