The Cabinet has granted approval to a proposal to establish an Integrated Treasury Management Information System (ITMIS) in Government ministries and departments
Following the success of two pilot projects implemented, it has been planned to establish the ITMIS in all the ministries, departments, district secretariats and special spending agencies in place of the existing CIGAS system, a statement on Cabinet decisions taken on Tuesday said.

A software developed by FreeBalance Inc. has been used in this system and any further enhancements and configuration changes that are needed during the use of this software can only be done through the said company.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved a proposal made by Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera to appoint a Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC) and a Technical Evaluation Committee in order to establish the ITMIS system for every public institutions.
The Cabinet has approved procuring the necessary services from FreeBalance Inc., according to the recommendations of the appointed committees.
