Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) with ‘One Industry One Voice’ yesterday welcomed the announcement by the Switzerland Government for relaxing the travel advisory.
“Swiss is an important market for us, especially during the winter season and the relaxation is timely. I hope this will enable the Swiss tour operators to promote Sri Lanka once again,” SLAITO President Nishard Wijetunga said.
He also pointed out that Switzerland is a charter destination for Sri Lanka.
The travel update was published following President Ranil Wickremasinghe’s announcement that the State of Emergency would not be further extended.
Considering the latest developments in Sri Lanka, the Swiss Government has recommended its citizens be mindful at all times as political and social tensions persist, noting the evolution of the situation remains uncertain.
“Avoid political discussions, including on social networks. Stay away from any event and follow the instructions of local authorities,” the travel advisory added.
It also strongly urged the Swiss citizens to find out through the media, tour operator, and/or a contact person on site about the current situation and possible curfews before and during the trip.
