The Ministry of Finance has increased the special commodity levy imposed on imported potatoes by Rs. 29 per kilogram from midnight yesterday.
The current levy of Rs. 1 per kilogram has been increased up to Rs. 30, the Ministry said.
The Ministry took the decision to increase the levy imposed on imported potatoes to protect farmers as local potato crops have started to reach the local market.
The revision of the levy will be in effect until 31 March.
