The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued an extraordinary gazette notification setting a district-based maximum retail price for a domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Cylinder of 18 litres (9.6 kilograms).
The gazette also makes it mandatory to display the weight of LPG cylinders sold in the market in kilograms.
The CAA has ordered that “no manufacturer, distributor, dealer or trader of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) domestic cylinders shall sell, expose, offer, display for sale or supply for sale any domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Cylinder of 18 litres (9.6 kilograms) at district level above the Maximum Retail Price.”
The district and their maximum retail prices are as follows:
Colombo and Gampaha Rs. 1,150; Kalutara Rs. 1,158; Puttalam Rs. 1,174; Kegalle Rs. 1,178; Kurunegala Rs. 1,177; Galle and Ratnapura Rs. 1,181; Kandy Rs. 1,191; Matara Rs. 1,194; Matale Rs. 1,195; Trincomalee and Hambantota Rs. 1,217; Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Rs. 1,215; Vavuniya Rs. 1,216; Mannar Rs. 1,234; Monaragala Rs. 1,248; Badulla Rs. 1,235; Ampara Rs. 1,252; Nuwara Eliya Rs. 1,229; Batticaloa Rs. 1,250; Jaffna Rs. 1,259; Kilinochchi Rs. 1,243 and Mullaitivu Rs. 1,242.
