The Government yesterday announced that it has decided to ease several COVID-19 rules about visitors arriving from overseas. The mandatory requirement of producing a COVID-19 vaccination certificate to enter the country has been lifted from yesterday, Health Services Director-General Dr. Asela Gunawardena said.
As per the Director-General, producing the COVID vaccination after arriving from overseas via any airport or seaport is not required.
“It is no longer necessary for anyone coming to Sri Lanka from abroad to present a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR/RAT) before boarding or upon arrival,” Dr. Gunawardena said.
However, in the event foreign nationals or tourists arriving from overseas test positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Sri Lanka, they are required to be isolated for seven days at a private hospital, hotel or place of residence.
Dr. Gunawardena said that the cost of treatment or isolation should be borne by the foreign nationals or tourists.
