UPFA member Wimal Weerawansa taking oaths as Cabinet Minister for Housing and Social Welfare before President Maithripala Sirisena
In the latest round of Cabinet appointments, United National Freedom Alliance (UPFA) member Wimal Weerawansa has been sworn in as the Minister of Housing and Social Welfare.
He took oath before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat, the President’s Media Division said. Secretary to the President Udaya R. Seneviratne also present on this occasion.
Later in the day, MP Udaya Gammanpila was sworn in as the Cabinet Minister for Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs while M. L. A. M. Hizbullah was appointed as Cabinet Minister for City Planning and Water Supply. MP C. B. Ratnayake was given Postal and Telecommunication, with S. M. Chandrasena appointed as the Cabinet Minister of Plantation Industries. Johnston Fernando is the new Cabinet Minister of Trade and Commerce.
