Delegates of Event Management Association of Sri Lanka together with delegates of the Event and Entertainment Management Association India with the landmark MoU signed in the presence of Sri Lanka Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake
Event Management Association of Sri Lanka (EMA) celebrated a momentous occasion recently and signed a landmark bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the first of its kind, with Event and Entertainment Management Association India agreeing to immensely strengthen the position of the industry both regionally and locally.
This MoU was signed in the presence of the Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake, who also graced the ceremony. Simultaneously, the Event Management Association of Sri Lanka held its AGM and website launch, followed by a cocktail dinner at the Atrium Lobby, Cinnamon Grand.
Commenting on the signed MoU, EMA Sri Lanka President Nishan Wasalathanthri said: “This is a landmark agreement for both parties. Our teams of eminent professionals possess extensive industry experience and is poised to help establish standards and further develop the industry. We’re excited to sign this MoU and also strengthen the position of our industry both locally and regionally.”
The ceremony and event were attended by EEMA President Samit Garg, E-Factor Experiences Co-Founder and Director and EEMA Executive Vice President P.V.N. Vidyasagar, Catpro Events and Entertainment Managing Director and EEMA General Secretary Vinod Janardhan, Managing Director, Team Rustic from India, the Current Executive Committee of EMA SL, Stakeholders, Government Dignitaries, Association Members and the press.
Key points of this landmark bilateral agreement included mutual cooperation and training in all aspects of event management and production, standardisation and compliance – to international standards – within the industry, generation of much-needed foreign exchange for its members and vice versa the country, business leads which will be channelled via the joint associations so that all members will benefit by working together to a high and exacting standard, raising the levels of entertainment and artists for both countries via a talent exchange, cross-marketing both associations so that a gold industry standard is established within the business sphere, and it will allow EMA members to be the go-to businesses for corporates who want and expect exceptional event production standards.
The Event Management Association of Sri Lanka in the future looks to be a fully ratified and Government-endorsed association bringing it in line with and under the protection and benefits of such ratifications.
