MANE, one of the top flavour and fragrance houses in the world, recently announced its strategic partnership with Akbar Brothers, one of the largest traders of tea, to provide high-end tea and coffee extracts for the global market.
The partnership will take the joint venture ‘Ethical Extracts’ (EE) forward and will strengthen its position as one of the world’s first producers of all-natural Ceylon tea and specialty coffee extracts.
MANE President and CEO Jean M. Mane said: “This partnership creates a unique positioning in the Beverage segment with an ability to create even single origin/single estate portfolio of tastes and aromas with 100% traceability and sustainability. With access to the world's best teas and most modern extraction technology at source, combined with MANE’s 150 years of expertise in creating world-class food and beverage solutions, this partnership shall foster the development of new and innovative natural beverage ingredients that could herald an exciting chapter for our customers as well as our partners. "
EE was founded by Dinike Jayamaha in 2016 when he was exploring the potential of Ceylon tea extracts, and at the same time, Akbar Brothers were set on taking their tea innovations to the next level. Following their dynamic partnership, a state-of-the-art facility using the latest extraction technology was set up and EE became a pioneer in producing premium Ceylon tea extracts (both liquid concentrates and aromas), that are 100% natural and use a unique close-to-source model. The company is dedicated to running an ethical operation that delivers best-in-class tea and specialty coffee extracts whilst focusing on a triple bottom line.
Akbar Brothers Director Shiraz Akbarally said: “Akbar’s longstanding strengths in tea combined with over a century of MANE’s expertise in R&D and the global food and beverage industry, will play a crucial role in taking Ceylon Tea and EE’s innovative products beyond the traditional uses of tea.”
Expressing his views on their journey to date, EE’s CEO Dinike Jayamaha stated: “I’m pleased to see how in just over two years, Ethical Extracts has grown from its concept stages and evolved into an industry game-changer that has a global market reach and vision. Ethical Extracts has also been at the forefront of revolutionising Sri Lanka’s tea industry and has injected a burst of innovation into it through the introduction of high potency tea concentrates and aromas.
Under the wing of a global powerhouse such as MANE and with the continued support and backing of Akbar Brothers, the company is now ready to take the finest Ceylon tea extracts to the world.”
