The maximum retail price of eggs has been reduced to Rs. 10 with immediate effect and there will be continuous supply, the Prime Minister’s office said yesterday.
It said the All Island Egg Producers’ Association (AIEPA) considering the prevailing situation has decided to reduce the maximum price of eggs with immediate effect.
“Adequate stocks are available at every Sathosa Co-operative store and 450 lorries have distributed islandwide,” it said.
The AIEPA requested consumers to contact authorities on 0372293300 to inform about vendors selling eggs at a higher price.
The Association has also agreed to supply adequate stocks to quarantine centres, following a request made by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
