The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with representatives of political parties this morning in order to obtain their views on the General Election scheduled for 20 June and the COVID-19 situation.
One representative each from a political party has been invited to attend today’s meeting, EC sources said.
The discussion will centre on the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and the preparations for the Election, which is scheduled to be held on 20 June.
EC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said this week that the final decision on holding the Election will depend on how the country progresses in controlling the disease in the weeks ahead.
