The Election Commission (EC) will hold a decisive meeting today to review its decision to hold the parliamentary election on 20 June.
The EC meeting comes at a time when several Fundamental Rights petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a delay in the polls citing the public health emergency caused by the spread of the coronavirus.
EC sources said its decision on the date of the holding the election will be depend largely on the feedback from health authorities as well other stakeholders.
Meanwhile the Health Ministry is in the process of preparing guidelines for holding an election during the time of COVID-19.
A draft of the guidelines has been shared with the EC and would be finalised after further discussions with the EC, Health Ministry sources said.
