Douglas Nanayakkara has been appointed as a member of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.
The new appointment came following two members of the Commission resigning last week.
Nanayakkara is a senior Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) officer. His appointment is effective till 16 July 2024. The appointment was made by the Treasury Secretary, by Section 3 (1) of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Act No. 35 of 2002.
The Daily FT exclusively reported Samaranayake along with Deputy Chairman Engineer Udeni Wickramasinghe tendered their resignations last Thursday.
Communication Specialist Mohan Samaranayake in quitting the Commission has made serious charges against Chairman Janaka Ratnayake.
In his letter to the appointing authority Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies Ranil Wickremesinghe who is also the President, Samaranayake listed four reasons which forced him to resign.
