Sri Lanka’s daily COVID-19 fatalities, which have remained above 90 since 4 August, exceeded 100 on Sunday, with the Director General of Health Services confirming 111 COVID-19 deaths.
Since 1 August, 714 COVID-19 deaths have been confirmed and a total of 5,018 COVID-19 fatalities have occurred this year, with the Epidemiology Unit’s situation report published on 1 January recording only 204 COVID-19 deaths.
In total, 5,222 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in the country, of which 75% are above age 60, 23.81% between ages 30 and 59, and 1.19% below age 30. On Sunday, the deaths of 90 persons over the age of 60 and 21 persons between ages 30 and 59 were confirmed.
Fifty-six fatalities confirmed on Sunday were male and 55 were female and of the country’s COVID-19 death toll, 3,025 are male and 2,197 are female.
