The UK Government credit agency UK Export Finance is providing £49m worth of support for the global engineering company Cleveland Bridge to construct 250 crossings in Sri Lanka.
The modular bridges will be designed and built in the UK then assembled across Sri Lanka to improve the country’s rural infrastructure, a statement said.

UKEF’s flexible support is hugely important for our international success, helping us build confidence with our overseas customers and access financing to deliver dynamic projects.”
International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said Cleveland Bridge demonstrates the value British design and engineering can bring to the world stage.
