The Chinese Embassy has been ably supporting the Sri Lankan Government to contain the spread of coronavirus, including encouraging Chinese tourists from epidemic areas to cancel their plans to visit, the Government Information Department said yesterday.
Issuing a press statement, the Government Information Department noted that Chinese authorities have responded to the epidemic with the highest attention, and have taken strict measures to control it from further spread.
“The Chinese Embassy has also fully cooperated with relevant Sri Lankan departments and taken effective precautions, trying its very best to protect Sri Lanka and its people from the epidemic,” the statement said.
The Chinese Government has temporarily closed exit and entry channels to cities which have been most vulnerable and much affected by the epidemic.
The Chinese Government has also cancelled all outbound group travels.
“The Chinese Government has been keeping a close eye on travel groups from China, and reported as well as sent suspicious fever cases to hospitals at the earliest time, requesting people in the same group to stop traveling and quarantine themselves.”
The Chinese Embassy has also shared information including fever cases and the patients’ travel agendas with Sri Lankan authorities.
“The Chinese Embassy has at the earliest time released the notice requesting tourists who have already arrived in Sri Lanka from epidemic-affected area to cancel their plans, and avoid crowded places. The Chinese Embassy has advised that tourists from epidemic areas including Hubei Province postpone or cancel their plans to visit Sri Lanka,” the statement added.
