Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka said yesterday that the MCC agreement would not be signed before it is placed before Parliament.
“This is a democratic and transparent Government, and we want this to be broadly discussed before it is signed. It will be placed before Parliament, and once agreement is reached there, it will be signed,” he told reporters at a press briefing.
The Minister added that there was no rush to sign it before the elections, but said it has been made into a bogeyman for political reasons.
“This will greatly benefit the country as it will help develop the public transportation and road infrastructure,” he added.
