Chairpersons, Boards of State enterprises, Govt.-owned companies, and statutory agencies to resign

• Secretary to President gives directive to call for resignations

Secretary to the President P.B. Jayasundera yesterday wrote to all Ministry Secretaries, asking them to request resignations from the Chairpersons and Board Members of State enterprises, Government-owned companies and statutory agencies.

“In view of the directive by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to appoint competent personnel to the Boards of State enterprises, Government-owned companies and statutory agencies, you as the line Ministry Secretary, in consultation with the Minister, may request the resignation of the Chairpersons and Board Members of these organisations under your purview,” Jayasundera said in the letter.

He also asked them to ensure that interim measures are taken for the daily conduct of affairs of these organisations until the appointment of the new Boards of Governors.
