CFW Swim Week Colombo brings together four creative industries namely Art, Fashion, Food and Music to host a week-long creative festival titled ‘Celebrate Colombo’ presented by So Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Tourism and Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).Celebrate Colombo is a week of creativity anchored on the Swim and Resort season now in its fifth year.
Food and music are two of the four creative industries collaborating to host events under the Celebrate Colombo festival throughout the week. The celebration kicked off on Saturday with the Food Festival at Park Street Mews. Partner restaurants and hotels will pack a flavourful punch throughout the week until 10 August.
Celebrate Colombo is a destination promotion tourism-based event product that positively tunes the perception of the international media and travellers, showcasing Colombo as a vibrant and creative city, and this event product also enhances the experience of the travellers, having them enjoy Colombo more than they would have done before. The collaboration with the creative industries of Art, Food and Music makes the city more attractive to the modern traveller. The very creation of this festival will be the first on-ground demonstration that there is peace and a return to normalcy after the Easter Sunday attacks. In this regard, this festival will play a strategic role for Sri Lanka.
“Food and music are an integral part of celebration as it shows the creativity of a city through an aspect which is attractive to international travellers and we are so excited that the food and music industries in Sri Lanka have come together to be part of Celebrate Colombo. We now welcome and encourage the residents of Colombo and Sri Lankans everywhere to enjoy to these festivities as we welcome the world to celebrate with us,” said Colombo Fashion WeekFounder and Managing Director AjaiVir Singh.
The Celebrate Colombo Food Festival will see leading restaurants and hotels in Colombo curate limited edition menus intended to provide attendees with an unparalleled gastronomical experience exclusively during the week.
The Food Festival is partnered by Park Street Mews, Coca-Cola Sri Lanka, Turkish Airlines, Hilton Colombo, Shangri-La Colombo, Galle Face Hotel, TajSamudra, Movenpick Hotel.
In addition, the Celebrate Colombo Food Festival has introduced a Food Passport, where attendees can collect their food passports from each of the participating restaurants and hotels and receive a stamp on their passports after dining in. They are then entered into a raffle draw at the end of the week and will stand a chance to win a return ticket to Europe courtesy of Turkish Airlines.
Celebrate Colombo will also see a variety of Curated Music Events which will add to the celebration and pockets of live music events will dot the city during theweek’s festivities. Some of the week’s performances include Funky Loops, an evening of Salsa dancing at King of the Mambo, solo performances by Q, AmarshaTissera, Lasith Fernando and a special curation at Botanik with DJ Clifford Isaac in collaboration with vocalists Yohani, Chamathka and Isuri.
The Celebrate Colombo Food Festival is open to the public and relies on residents of Colombo and all Sri Lankans to join in festivities and enjoy this creativity as we invite the world to celebrate with us.
