Cabinet this week gave approval for three domestic airports to be used for regional commercial flights to promote tourism.
The Government has taken steps to improve Batticaloa, Ratmalana and Palali Airports, the Government Information Department said in a short statement.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga to instruct the Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority to certify those airports to commence regional commercial flights in accordance with relevant standards.
