Cabinet nod to introduce 21A

Cabinet yesterday approved a proposal from Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to introduce the 21st Amendment to the Constitution to Parliament.

This amendment seeks to reintroduce the 19th Amendment to the Constitution with certain changes.

The Government has proposed constitutional amendments in the wake of growing calls on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Prime Minister to step down.
