The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved entering into an agreement with the European Union to implement the ‘Social Integrity and Peace Strengthening Project’ and to ‘Ease the Green Policy Dialogue’.
“The European Union has agreed to provide a grant of Euro 16 million for implementation of the proposed projects,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena said at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing on Tuesday.
The move will assist Sri Lanka to stabilise green policies as well as strengthening social integrity and peace by 2027. It has been also agreed to furnish funds under the Multi-Annual Indicative Program of the European Union for Sri Lanka.
The proposal to this effect submitted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday.
