Cabinet on Tuesday gave approval to a proposal by Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga to enable the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) to grant licenses for foreign airlines to operate domestic flights.
The license will be granted to airlines from countries with which Sri Lanka has bilateral air services agreements and is intended to boost the domestic airlines services.
The foreign airlines who show interest in operating domestic flights in the country will be able to operate from the airports at Colombo, Ratmalana, Batticaloa, Jaffna and Mattala airports.
