Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday confirmed that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Ministry have received over 70 proposals during the last month to supply petroleum products.
“All proposals were evaluated by a Committee comprising Government officials and issued Letters of Intent (LoIs) once all requirements were fulfilled,” he tweeted yesterday.
He also noted that most proposals fulfil the technical requirements, but failed to fulfil the payment methods that can be adopted by the CPC due to the country’s and banks’ ratings.
Minister Wijesekera called on individuals with a viable proposal to direct them to the CPC or the Energy Ministry, whilst requesting to refrain from spreading false and misleading news.
