The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) yesterday confirmed it has sufficient stocks of fuel to be distributed countrywide.
Issuing a statement, the CPC called on the public not to be misled by rumours, whilst noting that operations at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery have also resumed to continuously release fuel stocks to the market.
Diesel, petrol, kerosene oil, and several other products are being produced at the Sapugaskanda Refinery at present, the statement noted.
It also added that imported fuel stocks are also stored at the Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela terminals.
On Saturday, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera clarified the lapses in distribution, delays in payments, and unloading of orders by fuel stations have created long queues during the past few days.
“Reviewed fuel distribution and instructed to distribute additional stocks of all products countrywide in the next three days. Plan to reduce the queues in the next two days,” he opined via Twitter.
