The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Sri Lanka held its first-ever CMI Management Excellence Awards Night last Thursday (29) at Shangri-La Colombo, recognising and rewarding brilliance in the field of management.
The awards night recognised competent management skills from the junior to the senior level in all three economic sectors and two organisational sizes, including innovative management skills and excellence of women in management as well as everyone from the top emerging manager to the best CEO for their contribution in the field of management in Sri Lanka.
Addressing the gathering, CMI Sri Lanka Branch and CMI Management Excellence AwardsOrganizing Committee ChairmanMalraj B. Kiriella strongly believes that this awards scheme will fill a gap in the recognition of professional managers in Sri Lanka. Special Assignments Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama was the Chief Guest at the event.
“We think this award scheme will immensely help towards establishing professionalism among the management fraternity in Sri Lanka, while helping the country’s development process by making good managers,” Kiriella added.
The highlight of the awards scheme was the recognition given to lifetime management excellence, while a few awards were also dedicated to CMI members who had excelled in management while contributing to CMI Sri Lanka branch activities.
He pointed out that CMI UK Sri Lanka, which has served the country for over two decades, has always worked towards instilling professionalism in Sri Lankan managers.
“The goal of CMI Sri Lanka is to be the most recognised and respected professional body in the country. It is with this aim in mind that CMI Sri Lanka has decided to organise this awards scheme which will in return pave the way to achieving CMI Sri Lanka’s goal,” Kiriellaemphasised.
CMI UK has been promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence for more than 60 years. The mission of CMI is to increase the number and standard of professionally qualified managers along with its vision of creating ‘Better led and better managed organizations’.
