Sri Lanka’s plans to host the important Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES Cop18) has been postponed.
Previously it was scheduled for 23 May to 3 June at the BMICH in Colombo.
In a notice CITES said following Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka, the Secretariat consulted the Standing Committee about the implications for CoP18, SC71 and SC72. Following consultations, parties have agreed to postpone the events in Sri Lanka, which would have drawn over 3,000 foreign delegates.
