President Gotabaya Rajapaksa met with Central Bank heads to review the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the country’s economy, the President’s Media Department said in a statement yesterday.
The discussion looked at measures taken by CBSL to ensure cash flow and financial facilities continue despite the current situation.
Attention was also drawn to foreign exchange and external reserves management, and President Rajapaksa instructed the CBSL heads to take necessary steps to ensure maximum confidence among sovereign bonds investors. CBSL was also instructed to ensure all banks remain open, and to compile financial strategies for when the COVID-19 situation is under control in Sri Lanka.
