The best experts from both multilateral lending organisations and the local and foreign private sector will share key insights to the 2018 Budget at the Daily FT-Colombo University MBA Alumni Association organised forum on Monday, 13 November from 2.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Cinnamon Grand.
Dubbed the most sought after post-Budget forum, the event will see the presence of both Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera as the Chief Guest and State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne as the Guest of Honour.
Additionally, it will also be the only platform on which two key supporters, the World Bank and IMF, will be represented by senior officials with World Bank Country Director Idah Pswarayi-Riddihough and IMF Resident Representative Eteri Kvintradze, address ing the event.
Focusing on how the 2018 Budget and the Government's macroeconomic policies can help achieve the twin goals of boosting exports and Foreign Direct Investments, the forum will have one of the most sought after panel of experts.
The 2018 Budget had a host of proposals addressing these two aspects. The private sector and foreign investor specialists will be Siam City Cement CFO Bruno Pitzini, Ancell Lanka Country Director/General Manager Hasith Prematillake, Teejay Lanka Plc MD/CEO Sriyan de Silva Wijeyratne and seafood exporter Tropic Frozen Foods CEO and Executive Director Roshan Fernando. Forum's Technical partner PwC Director Tax Services Charmaine Tillekeratne will analyse the 2018 Budget from a taxation perspective whilst the forum's strategic partner HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives CEO Mark Prothero will also share key insights.
