CBEU and other trade union members of commercial banks protest during lunch break
All trade unions of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) including its executive officers protested yesterday against the increased taxes on employment income. They mentioned that the employees of CBSL are not against the taxes but it should be fair and bearable to employees whose real wages have already been hard hit by the exorbitantly high inflation.

They also emphasised that the existing rulers have legitimacy to increase the taxes on professionals while the ruling class are enjoying all the luxury and perks without any compromise despite the entire country being in a deep economic crisis.
The unions stressed that they will intensify the actions further if due consideration is not paid to the fair demands of the professionals.
Ceylon Bank Employees’ Union and other trade union members of several commercial banks too staged protests outside their bank premises during the lunch break.
